Sanjay Dutt, once baba, turns 50 this year

Hard to believe, but Sanju baba will be 50 this year.

Sanjay Dutt Birthday
Born on July 29, 1959, Bollywood's original fitness freak has always been seen as immature and innocent. Now that he's 50, almost a grandfatherly age, what can we expect from him?

He lay kind of low in 2008 with Kidnap being his prime release. He repeated his Munnabhai turn as Sattar Bhai in EMI but both films tanked.

But Sanjay has big films lined up in 2009.

First there is Anil Kapoor's Shortkut directed by Neeraj Vora and Roshan Andrews. Amrita Rao, Arshad Warsi and Simi Garewal are his co-stars in the film. Amrita Rao has a glamourous look in the film and has also worn a bikini for the first time on screen.

Then there is the highly anticipated underwater action thriller Blue for which he has trained really hard. Dutt has built an eight pack physique for the film and learnt deep sea diving. He shares screen space with Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif and Zayed Khan in the film which has been shot in the Bahamas and Thailand. The film is said to be the most expensive Indian film ever to be made. Its budget has already crossed 100 crore. Kylie Minogue will sing in the film and Lara Dutta will be seen in a bikini in Blue. Ashtavinayak is producing the film which is directed by newbie Anthony D'Souza.

Like Kidnap, he will be seen with Imran Khan once again in Soham Shah's Luck. Soham has previously made Kaal for Dharma Productions. Luck is an action thriller shot in South Africa and marks the debut of Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan opposite Imran Khan.

Sanjubaba will team up with director duo Abbas-Mustan for the first time for action thriller Mr. Fraud. Bipasha Basu, Ajay Devgan and Tanushree Dutta are his co-stars in the film which will be shot in the UK.

The lovable Sanjubaba plays evil magician Jafar in Sujoy Ghosh's Aladdin starring Riteish Deshmukh as the main protagonist and Big B as the Genie. Sri Lankan model Jacqueline Fernandes plays Jasmine in the film.

After Mission Kashmir, Sanjay has returned to the terror-ridden gorgeous valley for Rahul (of Parzania fame) Dholakia's Lamhaa. Bipasha Basu, who plays a Kashmiri girl in the film is his co-star. Kunal Kapoor and Shernaz Patel form the supporting cast of the film. Earlier, Karisma Kapur was supposed to do Bips' role but she backed out because of safety concerns. Bips was also paranoid about the security in Kashmir and was going to be replaced by Vidya Balan. Currently, Lamhaa is being in Mumbai's Film City where Kashmir has been recreated. Lamhaa is based on the political unrest in the valley.

Besides these films, he has a special appearance in Jackky Bhagnani's debut vehicle called Kal Kissne Dekha and Shyam Benegal Chamki Chameli, which is popular play Carmen's Indian adapatation and he also has a voiceover in Tarun Mansukhani's animated version of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai called Koochie Koochie Hota Hai. He should also start shooting for third franchise in the Munnabhai series, Munnabhai Chale Amerika by the end of 2009.
