Here we go, Zindagi Na Milege Dobara stars Hrithik Rosha, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor, and Kalki Koechlin. Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milege Dobara or ZNMD first teaser poster released got positive reply yesterday. ZNMD the movie poster looks like inspired from the of 2005 Hollywood film Lords Of Dogtown. Excel Entertainment producing this film, whose last week release Game was a sank at the box office.

Lords of Dogtown is a 2005 biographical film directed by Catherine Hardwicke, written by Stacy Peralta. The film is based on the story of “The Z-Boys”, an influential group of skateboarders who revolutionized the sport.

Makers of ‘Don' back on work with ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’

The release dates of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ are inching close, but Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the makers of SRK starrer ‘Don’ are busy working on its sequel, ‘Don 2.’

Ritesh Sidhwani is said to be looking for best shooting locations in Germany, Turkey, Manila and Poland. The movie will supposedly be shot across two continents. Farhan is also said to have joined Ritesh in his exploration.

The intimate scene between Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone in their forthcoming film ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ has been the talk of the town since a while now. More so as Farhan Akhtar is a married man and Deepika is single after the much publicized break-up with Ranbir Kapoor. Now considering these facts we wonder how Farhan got the go ahead for these scenes from his wife! Sequel to Don will only release 2011, five years after original!

Sequels are interesting only if there isn't a big gap between the two releases. They are usually made to cash in on the success of the film. Dostana released last year but the wheels to make Dostana 2 are in motion.

However Don which released in 2006, will have it's sequel in 2011!

Insiders say that the script of the film is ready and SRK had kept dates aside for the film but after the success of Rock On!!, Farhan is concentrating more on his acting and direction has taken a backseat.

A source reveals, "Shah Rukh Khan was keen to finish the film this year but it wasn't possible, as Farhan had other commitments. Now SRK will have no release in 2009, and he isn't happy about the fact. And next year, his dates are committed to Anubhav Sinha's Ra1 and Farah Khan's Happy New Year." Now he will make Farhan sweat it out for another year before he gives dates for the sequel.

Says producer Ritesh Sidhwani, "Don 2 starts in the summer next year and will be shot in Berlin and will release in 2011."

Happy New Year is modern: Farah Khan

After paying tributes to the 70's and 80's of Bollywood in Om Shanti Om and Main Hoon Naa, director Farah Khan has set her next film Happy New Year in a "modern and contemporary" world.

Happy New Year is not like my older films. It is a very modern film, very contemporary," Farah said when asked whether her third film would also carry the nostalgia of the 70s like her past films.

The movie, which is being produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, will reunite the successful on screen pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone from Om Shanti Om.

"Happy New Year would definitely go on floors this year unlike what the grapevine has been. I am presently working on the script," said Farah.

The director, however, refused to divulge the story line of the much-delayed and much-awaited movie.

Despite her professional commitments, which include direction, choreography and judging reality shows, the 44-year-old choreographer-turned-director manages to spend maximum time with her one-year-old triplets.

"Most of the time, I am with my children. If I am shooting in a nearby studio like the Yashraj one, I bring them over to the shoot," explains Farah, who returns to the small screen as a judge of a new reality show - Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.

"It is very interesting to find different people doing different things. There have been people who did some really crazy stuff on the show," says Farah, who has judged dance reality shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

After winning five Filmfare awards and a National Award in 2004 for choreographing Hrithik Roshan's Idhar chala main in Koi... Mil Gaya, Khan keeps her choreography assignments limited to the films of her friends like Karan Johar.

"I cannot say yes to anyone and everyone who asks me to choreograph his film. You have to accept that as a director I am more popular and successful. So I want to concentrate on making films now," she says while adding that she doesn't regret the fact that she is no more a full-time choreographer.

In her long career as the leading choreographer in the industry, Khan has made international artistes like Shakira and Kylie Minogue dance to her tunes.

"I think Hollywood stars do a lot of rehearsals. Kylie also practice a lot despite being such a big star. They are more cooperative and disciplined. But here in India, you can never expect that with a star," said Farah when asked to compare her experience with the two film industries.

Farah has also been roped in to choreograph a song in an Italian film called Oggi Spossi.

Movie Review : Luck By Chance

LUCK BY CHANCE is an outstanding film in all respects. A magnificent outing from the producers of ROCK ON!!, LUCK BY CHANCE is sure to prove an extremely lucky and rewarding experience at the box-office. Strongly recommended!

One has often heard, read and seen [on screen] the positive and negative aspects of Bollywood. It would be erroneous to state that LUCK BY CHANCE does a pol-khol of the glamorous industry. Let's put it this way: The film mirrors the behind-the-scenes drama and manoeuvring exactly the way it occurs in showbiz. Watching LUCK BY CHANCE is like experiencing it first-hand.

If you're associated with Bollywood, if you know how the machine works, you'd laud and applaud, laugh and smile, identify and understand and at times, empathize and sympathize with the characters in LUCK BY CHANCE. Zoya Akhtar's take on an industry that attracts millions of hopefuls year after year is bang on target.

Almost three decades ago, Hrishikesh Mukherjee's GUDDI depicted a star-struck teenager's [Jaya Bhaduri] obsession for a top star [Dharmendra]. Along with the core issue, the film highlighted the behind-the-scenes hard work and labour that went into making movies.

LUCK BY CHANCE taps almost every important facet of Bollywood and presents assorted characters you've encountered some time in life: An over-ambitious aspirant who knows to make the right moves; an actress trying hard to get that big break, even if she has to compromise; an icon of the 1970s who desperately wants her daughter to be a star; a producer who looks at riding on big names, script be damned; a failed actor now looking at direction to redeem his career.


One of the prime reasons why LUCK BY CHANCE works is because the writing [Zoya Akhtar] is simply wonderful. Right from the characters, to the individualistic scenes, to the way Zoya puts them in a sequence, LUCK BY CHANCE is easily one of the most cohesive scripts this side of the Atlantic.

The verdict? Leave aside everything and hitch this joyride called LUCK BY CHANCE. It would be sacrilege to miss this one!

Sona [Konkona Sen Sharma] arrives in Mumbai with dreams of becoming a film star. She does whatever it takes, to make it. Vikram [Farhan Akhtar] has just moved to the city leaving the comforts of his Delhi home. He is used to getting what he wants and is smart enough to know when to demand it and when to manipulate it. Gradually, Sona and Vikram develop a romantic relationship.

Rolly [Rishi Kapoor] is a successful though superstitious producer who only works with the biggest stars. He is making a potential blockbuster launching Niki [Isha Sharwani], the daughter of 1970s superstar Neena [Dimple Kapadia]. The hero of the film, Zaffar Khan [Hrithik Roshan], is the superstar.

Zaffar decides to opt out of Rolly's film and that creates havoc in Rolly's life. Rolly decides to cast newcomers and finally, Vikram is shortlisted for the main role...

LUCK BY CHANCE picks up characters straight out of life and that's the beauty of this script. The interesting part is that each of these characters has a story running parallel to the main story. Although the writing is foolproof, this review would be incomplete if one failed to acknowledge a number of scenes that are the hallmark of this enterprise...

On the lighter side, Farhan strikes a conversation with Dimple at a movie premiere and extols lavish praises on her.

Much later, an angry Dimple instructs Isha to patch up with Farhan, soon after Farhan and Isha's debut film has been declared a success. Watch the moments when Dimple recalls her early years.

If Zoya's writing is superb, her execution of the written material deserves distinction marks. This may be Zoya's directorial debut, but she treats the difficult subject like a veteran. Javed Akhtar's dialogues are remarkable. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is a mixed bag; the score could've been better. However, the choreography of the circus song is remarkable. Carlos Catalan's cinematography captures the right moods.

Farhan Akhtar is evolving into one of the most dependable actors of his generation. He's very real, very believable. No wonder, this character stands out. Konkona Sen Sharma is exceptional. The supremely talented actress delivers a sparkling performance yet again. Rishi Kapoor is incredible. A performance that merits the highest praise. Dimple Kapadia is in terrific form. It easily ranks amongst her most accomplished works. Juhi Chawla is first-rate. Isha Sharwani does her part well. Sanjay Kapoor springs a surprise. He registers an impact. Aly Khan is perfect.

Hrithik Roshan is truly wonderful. Note the sequence when he strikes a conversation with Karan Johar, only to realize that he himself had paved the way for Farhan in the industry. Only an accomplished actor could've handled this sequence with aplomb. Amongst the A-listers who make fleeting appearances in the film, the one who registers the maximum impact is Shah Rukh Khan.

Industry reacts on Rahman being the first Indian to win a Golden Globe Award

Happy Birthday, Farhan Akhtar!

Film Buff. Writer. Director. Producer. Actor. Singer. Talk Show Host. Rock Star. Farhan Akhtar.

With parents like Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, it wasn't long before Farhan turned his attention to Bollywood. He entered Bollywood at the age of 17, assisting directors and cinematographers. He dropped out of college and did various jobs like working for a TV production house and setting up his own production house, Excel Entertainment with childhood friend Ritesh Sidhwani. In a span of four years, he saw numerous movies, especially Die Hard which he saw 25 times.

In 2001, he made his directorial debut with the surprise smash hit: Dil Chahta Hai. He was only 27 then. And the movie about 3 friends and their lives created waves, winning Farhan his first National Award for Best Feature Film. Besides being a fantastic film, DCH was a technically brilliant film. For the first time ever, a Hindi film used sync sound so there was no dubbing involved. Also, the film was shot and completed in four months flat. Farhan was so thorough with his scenes that he knew exactly what he wanted from the actors. For the first time, a lot of attention was paid to the actor's hairstyle, courtesy Farhan's wife, hairdresser Adhuna Akhtar of B: Blunt.

After the feel good Dil Chahta Hai which re-launched Saif Ali Khan's career, Farhan returned with the mature Lakshya in 2004. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta, the film was about the transformation of a youngster from being a clueless moron to a disciplined army man. With brilliant performances from the cast and excellent direction, the film was applauded by the critics but not by masala film loving Indian audiences.

Farhan then took up the daunting task of remaking iconic film Don which his father Javed had written. So he adapted his father's script to make a highly stylized and stylish flick starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Arjun Rampal. Kareena did the item song Yeh Mera Dil. The film got a mixed response from the critics but the audiences made it a hit.

He also directed a short film on AIDS called Positive and produced Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd in 2007.

Rock On is a phenomenon and a cult film just like Dil Chahta Hai. And Farhan has a lot to do with its success. He produced it, wrote the dialogues for it, acted in it and learnt how to sing the super hit songs. He has an unusual voice and sounds just like his father. Turns out his husky vocals are perfect for Indian rock music. Farhan has won rave reviews for his acting debut and we love the sound of his voice on songs like Rock On and Tum Ho Toh. As part of promotions for Rock On, Magik, comprising Farhan, Arjun, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli has toured the country making crowds groove to their rocking and magical music.

Farhan is currently hosting Oye, It's Friday which is a celeb talk show with a dollop of comedy.

On the personal front, Farhan is married to Adhuna Akhtar and they have two daughters: Shakya and Akira. They live in Bandra Bandstand. He is good friends with the Rock On cast and Shah Rukh Khan.

Farhan will flex his acting muscles in sister Zoya's directorial debut Luck By Chance in which he plays a struggling actor and in Vijay Lalwani's thriller Kartik Calling Kartik with Deepika Padukone.

Karan Johar replaces Farhan Akhtar On Oye It’s Friday

The rumour mills are churning out tales of Farhan Akhtar being replaced by Karan Johar as host of Oye! It’s Friday.

Reportedly, the channel is neither happy with the show’s TRPs or Farhan’s performance. Also, Farhan’s alleged tinkering with the gags and his reluctance to take dig at his Bollywood friends hasn’t gone down well with the other team members.

It has been heard that in an attempt to boost their sagging show, the channel has decided to rope in Karan Johar as the host. It must be noted that Karan Johar is on the board of NDTV Imagine and his Dharma productions holds a stake in the company.

Refuting that Karan is replacing Farhan, a source from the production informs, “Though, it’s still not clear who the new host of the show will be, I can assure you that Farhan is not being replaced. The format of our show is such that we’ll have a new host after every 3-4 months. As for the other accusations against Farhan, I think they are completely baseless and out of context. Farhan has never said a single word against any of our gags.”

When asked whether the channel is happy with the average TRP of the show, our source replied, “Honestly speaking, an average TRP of .8 is not good for a show of such magnitude. We are hoping things will change for the good in the coming months.”

Farhan gets intimate, measures Deepika's height

Chandni Chowk To China getting ready for release, this week's special guest on 'Oye! It's Friday!' is none other than Deepika Padukone. What makes the episode special is the fact that Farhan Akhtar celebrates his birthday in this episode where there are tons of surprises and gifts galore. The episode travels from Chandni Chowk To China with Deepika Padukone and then to Mumbai with the latest item-hotty Sherlyn Chopra who comes up with a sizzling performance. Add to that some action from Sweden with Mattias Lindstrom and his spectacular 'Man on wheels' - all of which makes this week's episode worth remembering.

- Deepika's love for Ranbir is a known fact. However, expect some more sweet nothings as Farhan gets candid with the beautiful Deepika Padukone while chatting about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor. Deepika also shares her experience working with Akshay Kumar in CC2C.

- Deepika is known for her towering height. Well, Farhan eventually gets the right measurements of her, well for height of course, by bringing a measuring tape on the show, making her stand upright and hold the tape from the top as he places the other end on her feet. Wanna guess her real height?

- As is known by one and all by now, for her upcoming film Chandni Chowk To China, Deepika Padukone underwent rigorous training in martial arts. Not someone to just believe in hearsay (in lighter vein of course), Farhan put her training to the test by asking her to break a 3 layered brick! Not to be taken for a ride by someone, the young lady convinced Farhan to do the deed instead! Did Farhan manage to break the brick or break his hand?
