Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha in a Rajinikanth Film

Amitabh Bachchan to make a guest appearance in a Rajinikanth movie. Apart from Mr Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth the film will also feature Rekha, Vidya Balan and Deepika Padukone.

Andha Kanoon, Giraftar and Hum, the three films where the two superstars were seen together were super hits. Lets see how this one performs at the Box office when apart from watching the superstars together; it may give you a chance to watch Mr. Bachchan and Rekha in the same frame.

The superstar of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan and the biggest star of down South Rajinikanth will be seen together as Mr Amitabh Bachchan makes a guest appearance in the upcoming film Rana, the next film of the Southern superstar. The two superstars of India will work together after 20 years.

But before you get too excited, you need too understand that it is expected that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s role in the film will be rather small. This is because when there is very little scope for any other actor even if Rajinikanth has one role in the film, what will happen when he has a triple role in the film?

May be even the makers of Rana understand that point. They have already made it clear that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has a very small role in the film and will not have a full-fledged role.

Though Mr Bachchan and Rajinikanth haven’t been seen together in many films, they have a lot of mutual admiration for each-other. This was seen when the superstar from South went out of his way to congratulate Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on his performance and success of Paa. At that point, Rajinikanth had said Mr. Amitabh Bachchan sets standards that others follow.

Amitabh Bachchan to romance Raveena Tandon and Hema Malini in Buddha

Actor Amitabh Bachchan may be pushing 70 but there’s no stopping the passion of this man for cinemas. The emperor of Bollywood is set to romance Hema Malini and Raveena Tandon in his upcoming film ‘Buddha.’

He shall be reprising old school romance with Hema with whom he first starred in the classic flick ‘Satte Pe Satta.’ Over the years they have starred in a string of films including the much acclaimed ‘Baghban.’ The last time they were seen together on screen was in 2006’s ‘Baabul’ that was helmed by Ravi Chopra.

Besides Hema, interestingly, Big B shall have another lead lady in ‘Buddha’ in the form of the ravishing Raveena Tandon. Amitabh’s character is that of an old man who is still young at heart. He is trendy and apes modernity and loathes it when people refer to him as an old man. He sports coloured hair and funky clothes teamed with updated accessories.

Initially, actresses Juhi Chawla and Tabu (with whom he starred in ‘Cheeni Kam’) were also considered for playing the role that has now fallen on the laps of Raveena. However, Raveena is keeping her lips sealed by citing that nothing has been finalised yet.

The film is a medium-budgeted one and shall be going on floors this March.

Big B to dye beard, hair for ‘Boodha’

After retaining the same appearance for the last 11 years, Amitabh Bachchan has suddenly turned experimental about his looks. First he decided to sport a trimmed beard and new hairstyle in “Aarakshan” and now for “Boodha”, the Big B will dye his beard and hair into a flamboyant trendy colour!
The colour is yet to be decided. According to insiders from the frantically-experimental unit, Big B would either sport a red-tinted beard and hair in the movie — which will be directed by Telugu maverick Puri Jagannath — or it could be various flamboyant colours.

When contacted, Jagannath said: “That’s right. Bachchan sir is going totally psychedelic for his part in ‘Boodha’. You see, he plays a man who is 60 but believes he’s still 25. So he moves around dressed and made up like today’s youngster. And if anyone calls him a boodha (old man) he is livid. He will be dyeing his beard and wig.”
Even the clothesline for Big B in “Boodha” would be in keeping with his character of a man of 25. Apparently, the megastar would be borrowing accessories from his son Abhishek’s wardrobe.
The film will go on floors next month.

Aish makes headlines in Bips Lamhaa

aishwarya-rai

Rahul Dholakia’s upcoming film Lamhaa is making news these days. The story is based on the turmoil in the Kashmir valley. What actually is making news is that, there is a dialogue that apparently mocks Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai.

In one scene, Anupam Kher who plays a Kashmiri separatist leader says: “When Aishwarya Rai is unable to see the moon it makes news. But why don’t the media report the plight of those thousands of Kashmiri wives who haven’t seen their husbands for years?”

However, this dialogue isn’t made up. It was actually spoken by a Kashmir leader referring to the long-lasting unrest in the valley. Also, the director and the main actors were a bit scared about the Bachchan’s reaction to this dialogue.

But, Big B responded positively to the scene. He probably understood that the trivial news about Aish was referred because the media gives more attention to Bollywood glamour rather than important news.

Criminal case to be registered against Big B

How is Aishwarya involved?

A woman village-head in Uttar Pradesh in India has sought a local court's intervention to get a criminal case registered against Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki district, where the megastar has bought land to build a women's college.

Complainant Raj Kumari is the 'gram pradhan' (village head) of Daulatpur village, where the mega star had acquired five bighas of land to build a college in the name of his star daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

In an application moved before the court of chief judicial magistrate, Barabanki, Raj Kumari has accused Bachchan of "playing fraud" on the people of the village by not keeping his word of building a women's college.

She has further charged Bachchan of threatening her with dire consequences when she approached him to honour his commitment to the local population.

The court has fixed May 31 for hearing the case.

Earlier, Bachchan has faced charges of acquiring 2.5 bighas of agricultural land owned by the local 'gram sabha' allotted in his name through "fraudulent means".

Subsequently, he purchased three bighas of private land. Together with his close friend, former Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, he travelled all the way to Daulatpur village in 2006 along with his wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya. And amidst much fanfare, he declared that the college would be named after Aishwarya.

However, there was no activity on the plot in all these years, following which the village head moved the court.

Amitabh Bachchan Support MS Dhoni

Amitabh Bachchan Support MS Dhoni
Amitabh Bachchan
‘Come on Dhoni! You can do it’, Bollywood Mega star Amitabh Bachchan words of Support to the Indian Cricket Team Captain when the whole world is after him and his men in blue with whatever abuses, blames they have. But Amitabh Bachchan has come out in full support for MS Dhoni via his blog.

Big B writes, “I am appalled at the way MS Dhoni has been targeted. A week ago he was the apple of your eye and within seconds, in a show smacking of frivolity, you have through deliberate and unjustifiable cut, paste technology, made him into the creator of all that ails Indian cricket.”

Amitabh Bachchan clarifies that, that doesn’t mean that he is not affected by the ouster of the Indian cricket team from T20 world cup and has come out heavily on the satellite channels for destroying the spirit of the players, he writes, “We are all very disappointed with the outcome of the T20 championships, but don't destroy the spirit of these magnificent athletes. From the early hours of the morning, the electronic (media) has only crucified the team and done nothing else. Don't kill their morale for god's sake."

He goes further by suggesting what he would have done if he was the head of a channel, he continues, “If I was heading a channel, I would repeatedly keep showing in my broadcast, the glorious victory of the year when we won the World Championships, rather than dwell on our players in their weaker moments. I have faith in MS Dhoni the wonderful band of brothers in the team. Regroup, regain and win."

MS Dhoni must be feeling the sign of relief after these encouraging words from Amitabh Bachchan and won’t be surprised if answers his critics by borrowing a line from Amitabh Bachchan’s 70’s blockbuster ‘Deewar’ and shuts all the critics mouth by saying “Mere pass Bachchan hai”.

'Save The Tiger' says Big B

Amitabh Bachchan Bollywood's legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has been signed on as the brand ambassador of 'Save The Tiger' campaign.

With this, Bachchan joins the likes of the Indian cricket and football captains as the face of the campaign, spearheaded by the environmental group WWF India and the telecom giant Aircel.

Bachchan, in his blog, said, "I immediately agreed because I feel it is first of all a national cause. It is a cause of nature, it is a cause of environment and if my face and my voice can be used to impress upon people that this is something essential and important. It is not just for the environment but for the entire nation then I shall be most willing to join it."

"If I can be a voice that is going to be speaking about these issues, if I can be a face that perhaps a few people will listen to and hear and if I can convince even one individual to follow this path, this very righteous path. I think that somewhere I will feel convinced that I have done something worthwhile. And I feel that this campaign will also take one very small step forward but at least a step forward," he added.

With the legendary superstar Amitabh Bachchan joining in as the brand ambassador, the tigers are sure to receive a much needed reprieve.

SRK and Bachchans get pally

And on Sunday night, when Ambani decided to unveil his plans, everyone present was left completely in awe.

More interestingly, it marked a sort of getting together of two of the industry's most powerful men, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

King Khan was seen warmly greeting Amitabh Bachchan, after which the two had a long conversation. But it didn’t stop there. While Amitabh made an early exit, SRK left for a meeting soon after midnight, after making sure he invited Abhishek and Aishwarya to Mannat before leaving.

“Shah Rukh had a meeting at his home after the party. So, he left soon after midnight like Amitabh. But Abhishek and Aishwarya were still at the party along with Karan Johar. Arjun Rampal and Farhan Akhtar, who were also present at the party, were having an equally good time. But once the party began to wind up, Abhishek and Ash headed to Mannat with Karan Johar,” says our source, adding, “Even when Mr. Bachchan was leaving, SRK came out with Abhishek and Aishwarya to see him out. They stood at the door and had a long conversation even as Abhi-Ash went back in. He even stood and spoke to Amar Singh, who had accompanied the Bachchan family.”

Ever since Karan Johar managed to sort things out between Shah Rukh and Aishwarya at his birthday party last year, things between Bachchan Jr. and SRK have been steadily improving.

“Karan is the main reason of this growing friendship between the Bachchans and Shah Rukh. Ever since SRK apologized to Ash, the father and son have become increasingly fond of him. They respect him a lot more, and this is showing in their growing interaction,” says the source, “Now there is no party at Mannat where Abhi-Ash are not invited.”

In fact, when the Bachchans decided to boycott the Filmfare Awards on Saturday night, SRK was amongst the very few stars who openly supported their decision – this despite the fact that he was hosting the awards and is almost synonymous with them. He even tweeted Abhishek the same night saying ‘had nice time at filmfare..but my friend without u and the wonderful family it just couldnt become great for me. love u. missed u...tell dad, mom and aish. love u very much.’

The Ambani party was said to be a celebration of the great performance of Big Pictures’ three movies – Rock On, Paa and 3 Idiots. Italso turned out to be the venue where Ambani let his B-Town mates know what he has planned for the coming year.

Bachchans to skip Holi celebrations this year too

bachchans family 200x157
The Bachchan family is going to give Holi celebrations a miss this year too, due to the death of a close relative of family friend Amar Singh and the recent Pune blast, which killed 17 people.

“We do not celebrate again this year. Primarily because of the death of a close relative of our family friend Amar Singhji, but also we do not feel comfortable in celebrating when our own have lost lives in the Pune blast recently,” megastar Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com Saturday night, from his Prateeksha residence.

The first family of Bollywood also skipped the festival celebrations last year as a mark of respect to the 26/11 terror attack victims and did not celebrate the same in 2008 due to Amitabh’s mother Teji Bachchan’s
The 67-year-old actor, however, did greet his fans for the festival.
“My wishes and those of my family remain, however, with those that do bring in this festival, a festival that fills us with the joy of achievement and change and produce,” Big B wrote.
“Happy Holi! And may the colours bright and beautiful ever remain with you in celebration. May it bring peace and calm and may it become the turning point for good tidings,” he added.

After ‘Kites’, Hollywood editor for ‘Teen Patti’

teen patti movie 200x200
First it was Anurag Basu’s “Kites” that had Brett Ratner from Hollywood to put together the material. Now director Leena Yadav has roped in Oscar winning editor Hughes Winborne to edit her film “Teen Patti”, which is releasing Friday.

Winborne, who has edited Will Smith starrer “In Pursuit Of Happyness” and “Seven Pounds” and also won an Oscar for his editing in Paul Haggis’s “Crash”, has ‘re-edited’ “Teen Patti”, which was first edited by Kaushik Das.
“We needed that international sensibility to be placed on the footage. We sent a subtitled print to Hughes. But he soon did away with the subtitles. He got all the Hindi jokes and punchlines,” Yadav told IANS.

Why was it felt that a Hollywood editor would be able to give “Teen Patti” the global cut?
“It’s really about getting the rhythm right. The Western audience has a different pace for movie viewing. That pace worked beautifully in my film,” said Yadav.
An international editor was not all that “Teen Patti” got from abroad. The film also imported a stunt coordinator. The German stunt director Armin Sauer, who has worked with global biggies like Matt Damon in “The Bourne Supremacy” and Ralph Fiennes in “The Constant Gardener”, had been called to supervise the stunts.
Yadav let go of all stops and made sure she pulled the punches as hard as Armin.
“These stunts that Mr. Bachchan has performed are very real, very raw. Not for a second was I allowed to feel like a woman on the sets. Agreed there were a lot of men on the set and two intimidating stalwarts like Mr Amitabh Bachchan and Sir Ben Kingsley. But any director regardless of gender would have fely equally intimidated by these two stalwarts.”
It’s generally said that female directors have a much tougher time directing a film than their male counterparts. Yadav says she has never had to suffer because of her gender.
“Not once did I feel I was disadvantaged by my gender. On the sets, my authority was never questioned. Whether it was legends like Mr. Bachchan and Sir Ben or the newcomers, they all surrendered to my vision,” she said.

‘Raavana' to release in July?

Mani Ratnam is currently busy with his big budget bilingual film titled ‘Raavana’ in Tamil and ‘Raavan’ in Hindi, is said to hit the theatres in July.

Earlier, there were reports that a 90-second trailer of the Hindi version would be launched soon. But now, the film will hit the theatres in July. Mani Ratnam plans to release the film simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil.

According to the sources, Mani is working overtime to finish the film by July. However, he decided to re-shoot a couple scenes he was not too satisfied with. With the re-shoot, Mani now feels that ‘Raavana’ has come out very well.

‘Raavana’ is said to be the modern adaptation of the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana,’ which revolves around Raavana, the ruler of Lanka. The story ends with Sita supporting Raavana instead of Rama, who suspects her virtue after having spend much time in Raavana’s custody.

Vikram is playing the villain. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the lead pair in Hindi, while Vikram will star opposite Aishwarya in Tamil. The music is given by A.R. Rahman.

Amitabh Bachchan Latest News about Brand Ambassador of Gujarat

Amitabh Bachchan Latest News, Amitabh Bachchan News, Bollywood Shahenshah
Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s decision to become brand ambassador for Gujarat Tourism has not gone down well with the Congress, the party he had once represented from Allahabad as a Lok Sabha MP. “Amitabh Bachchan should not misuse his celebrity status and become the brand ambassador for the vested interests,” said Rajeev Shukla, AICC secretary and coordinator for Gujarat, adding that State Governments were not corporate entities that required a brand ambassador for image improvement.

“Celebrities should shy away from it, as it gives a poor impression,” Shukla said, recalling that Bachchan had earlier been a brand ambassador for Uttar Pradesh which had “bought electoral disaster” for the state’s the then ruling Samajwadi Party. “Only time will tell what will happen to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.”

AICC secretary in-charge of Gujarat P Sudhakar Reddy said the move was nothing more than an attempt to cash in on the goodwill of the actor.

After having a special screening of his film Paa for Modi last month, both the CM and Amitabh emerged great fans of each other. While Bachchan accepted Modi’s invitation to work as the “brand ambassador of Gujarat”, the state exempted the film from entertainment and other taxes.

Aishwarya angry at Rann Premiere

ashmiff
Aishwarya Rai looked stunning in a Sabyasachi black anarkali at Rann Premiere, however her happiness was shortlived when her ex-boyfriend Vivek Oberoi came in for the premiere.

As soon as Vivek made an entry, Aishwarya looked very angry, to avoid any bad moments the organziers shifted Vivek to another auditorium. When Vivek came out of the auditorium to go to loo, media asked him whether he was invited and he said, “The Movie is still on, Mr. Bachchan is fantastic.”
Aishwarya looked very displeased and was seen talking to Abhi loudly in a miffed voice saying, “Who is leading us upstairs, are you taking us?” and forced Abhi towards the auditorium by the hand.
Aishwarya’s displeasure continued after the flick, as she avoided talking with guests, that’s when Abhi held her by shoulders and said “Baby” and made her talk to director Ram Gopal Varma.
Ramu did not had any clue about Vivek’s presence at the movie.
