Vidya Balan declines Satee Pe Satta remake

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan rejected to take on Hema Malini’s position in the remake of Satte Pe Satta. Vidya will not really be the one to yet repeatedly change the 7 untamed bros living on a ranch.“Vidya didn’t desire to perform this flick mainly because she thinks that Satte Pe Satta should not be interfered with.That movie is simply too famous to be duplicated or modified,” describes a source about the actress’s cause for turning down Sanjay Dutt’s proposal.While Sanjay Dutt will essay the character that Big B took part in the first flick, he is having challenges casting the woman lead.Actress has point-blank rejected to battle this particular demanding task, which will likely be directed by Soham Shah.When the filmmakers talked to actress’s coordinator, she failed to make them hang on very long for a respond.

The sequel of the hit film Ishqiya has been announced.

The sequel to Ishqiya, the film that was praised both the audiences and critics alike has been announced. Whereas the sequel was expected for quite some time now, it was finally announced at a party a couple of days back.

The sequel of the film has been in the news for quite some time now. But now that it has been officially announced, it is expected that the shooting of the film will start very soon. While announcing the sequel, Shemaroo and Vishal Bhardwaj, who produced Ishqiya, said that the film will be made with the same team that made the first film.

A source close to Vishal said, “Ishqiya apart from being a huge hit and was also critically acclaimed. Therefore, the producers were very happy and were keen to make a sequel. But the film did not take off for a long time. Since, everything seems to be on track now, last night the film was announced at a private party at the producer Shemaroo’s office.”

The lead pair of the film, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi were also present at the party where the announcement of the sequel was made.

Reports suggest that whereas the producers of Ishqiya were always keen on making the sequel, the delay came from the side of director Abhishek Chaubey, who was contemplating other projects. But in the end when no other project materialized, Abhishek eventually decided that making the sequel of his hit film was a better option for him rather than trying his hand on a new film.

Hopefully, the sequel will be as good as Ishqiya.

"More women are lost to marriage than floods and famine,'' said a skeptic. Despite constant and vehement denials from the concerned parties, it seems like Bollywood is about to lose some of its best talent to the institution shortly.

Talk is that B-town's most celebrated talent Vidya Balan, who is good friends with Siddharth Roy Kapur, a top film corporation honcho may reportedly get engaged to him.

A top industry source says, "Vid and Sid are close. And in the past weeks they have been spotted spending quality time with each other on two occasions. The first time was when they reportedly stayed back after an awards night in Singapore and more recently when they were photographed in casual attire at a beach destination in India.''

Rumours say that Vidya who is doing some exceptional film work this year may consider getting engaged to Siddharth. There is also talk that the film corporation executive is not comfortable talking about his friendship with the actress because he is allegedly waiting for his divorce to come through.

Vidya's secretary however rubbishes all this talk. Says he, "Vidya has to first know Siddharth well enough to marry him. One doesn't necessarily marry people one is friendly to or has dinners with."

The actress remained unavailable for comment.

Biography

Vidya Balan is a Tamilian from Kerala. She is from the Iyer community. She comes from a middleclass family from Palghat, on the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. 

Vidya did her schooling from St Antony's School and later on joined St Xavier's College from where she graduated in sociology. 

When she was doing her MA from Mumbai University, she was offered a role in a Malayalam film titled Chakram with Mohanlal, one of Vidya’s favorite actors. However, the project was shelved mid-way and Vidya had to wait for few more years to make her movie debut. 

She made her debut as a model in a Surf Excel advertisement in 1998. She has acted in scores of ad films, most of which were directed by Pradeep Sarkar.

A couple of months later, she featured in three music videos (again directed by Sarkar) for ‘Euphoria’, Shubha Mudgal and Pankaj Udhas. 

Vidya Balan started work as an actress in the Malayalam movie Chakram, paired against Mohanlal, however the film was abandoned mid-way through production. After making her debut in television advertising as a model for a Surf Excel advertisement in 1998, she proceeded to do over 25 TV ads, (mostly directed by Pradeep Sarkar), followed with a variety of acting stints in music videos (Euphoria, Shubha Mudgal and Pankaj Udhas), Hindi TV soap operas (Hanste Khelte and Hum Paanch) and a Bengali movie, Bhaalo Theko, for which she won the Best Actress Anand Lok Puraskar award in Kolkata.

In the meantime, she acted in Bengali movie Bhalo Theko with actor Joy Sengupta. She even won the ‘best actress’ Anand Lok Puraskar in Kolkata for her performance in the movie. 

It was in Mumbai, during a pop concert, when filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra approached her to play the female lead in his movie Parineeta, to be directed by Pradeep Sarkar. 

Vidya had to go through 40 screen tests and 17 make-up shoots before she was finally chosen for the lead role in the film.

Vidya has a very traditional Indian look in contrast to most of today's Bollywood starlets. She is associated with AmFar (Americans for AIDS Research) and Hale House, a home for children born with HIV and those affected by Drug Addiction. She also involves herself with the Harvard AIDS Institute, by Hosting Forums and participating in events throughout the year. No wonder that Vidya Balan is one of the most talked about names in Bollywood today.

Vidya Balan is going great guns these days. After sweeping Best Actress awards in every award function, the latest we hear is she’s been voted the hottest vegetarian in an online poll by the animal rights organization PETA, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Beating other powerful contenders like Lara Dutta, Mallika Sherawat, Kareena Kapoor and even the recent Golden Globe winner Natalie Portman, Vidya was voted the hottest vegan. The other was Shashi Tharoor, the former union minister of state for external affairs. He scored over the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor and Madhavan to become the hottest male vegan.

“Vidya Balan and Shashi Tharoor embody many admirable qualities, but their commitment to a vegetarian diet that’s as kind to animals and the earth as it is to their own health makes them true royalty in our book,” Poorva Joshipura, chief of PETA, said in a statement.

Box Office Reports…No One Killed Jessica doing well…

The year’s first major release hasn’t disappointed the cine-goers. No One Killed Jessica took a slow start at the box office with 30-35% occupancy on its first day, but revved up and saw a good weekend business of Rs 12.50 crore approx.

The movie, which is based on the Jessica Lal murder case and stars Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan, is expected to do well at the multiplexes.

As per trade reports, the movie’s Friday collection was approximately Rs 3.15 crore; on Saturday the collections jumped to Rs 4.50 crore; and on Sunday it was approx Rs 4.75 crore. So the graph is going up. Let’s see how the movie will perform in the coming days, crucial to decide its box office fate.

The other releases of the week: Impatient Vivek and Vikalp were very poor with almost zilch collections. The films will go unnoticed at the box office.
