Synopsis:

She is playing a role of a Municipal Commissioner in the same town Phaltan. She is mature & strict in her work, and doesn't allow corruption.

Azad Bhagat, a common man... His wife & son die in bridge accident. He believes that the bridge collapsed because of bad construction. He is an honest man who understands the politics & wants to expose the criminals behind this scam.

Trigun Fatak, a chief engineer who works in the Municipality. His job is to inspect roads, bridges & flyovers. He is Sachin Tichkule's brother in law, married to his eldest sister.

Mr. Ganpule, a bank manager. He is Gehna's elder brother. Gehna stays with him in Phaltan.

Synopsis

Struggling road construction contractor, Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar) is doomed to Dream big.

There is no chance in hell that his dreams will ever come true, simply because he has no money to bribe!

To make Matters worse, the new municipal commissioner turns out to be his ex girl friend (Trisha) who now hates him.

Even as you laugh as Sachin bubbles his way from one disaster to another, the film reveals in a light hearted way, the extent of corruption and bribery rampant in the system, and the ingenious means you have to adopt if you want to survive enjoy the bumpy ride!

Munnabhai Chale Amerika

Just when all Munnabhai fans had given up any hope of seeing the much promised third installment in the series, news comes in that Munnabhai Chale Amreeka is very much in the pipeline. The filming will begin at the end of the year.

“Munnabhai Chale Amreeka is very much on the cards. Raju has been working on the script, and we should begin filming soon” confirms Munnabhai, Sanjay Dutt, himself.

Arshad Warsi, who is currently enjoying the success of his first production Hum Tum Aur Ghost, is equally optimistic of doing the film. “Raju has been working on the story and screenplay for some time now. We all know how Raju works, and he needs the story to be just right. We didn’t want to make the sequel just to cash in on the Munnabhai success. We want to make a good and equally enjoyable film,” explains Arshad.

But what has delayed the film for so many years?

“The film, as the name suggests, is set in the US. Now, many films have been made with the whole New York and 9/11 incident in the background. A lot of them were being filmed or released during the time Raju was writing the script. Plus 3 Idiots also happened for Raju. So, for a good year and a half, he was completely immersed in that project. He has now gone back to the writing board and is re-working the script… putting final touches to it,” says Warsi.

According to both Dutt and Warsi, the film should go on floors either in December of this year or at the very start of next year.

Film Previews: Road, Movie and Rokkk

Abhay Deol, arguably the most talented of the Deol clan struck gold with his recent release 'Dev D', which turned out to be a box office success and redefined Hindi film viewing in the country.

The story of 'Dev D' was conceived by Abhay, and apart from garnering overwhelmingly positive reviews, the film generated a cult following and also won key Filmfare awards. Over the past few years Abhay has acted in offbeat, acclaimed gems like 'Manorama Six Feet Under', 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local', 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!'. Now Abhay is back with another unconventional film titled 'Road, Movie', directed by Dev Benegal. In the film Abhay plays a man who seeks salvation by screening films across a desert. 'Road, Movie' also stars Tannishtha Chatterjee, Satish Kaushik and newbie Mohammed Faizal Usmani.

"Road, Movie is a celebration of cinema. It's actually a film that you are watching within a film. It plays upon how important it (cinema) is to us and how it is treated and accepted. It is a journey of cinema," Abhay was quoted as saying, "It's very enjoyable, much more light and not serious and preachy. We don't make any great statements with this film. It's just totally made to enjoy the ride," he said. To research for the film, director Benegal (no relation to Shyam Benegal) travelled for a year with a transient cinema troupe that showcased different films in rural Rajasthan villages. The desert footage was ultimately taken from the Kutch District of Gujarat and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. 'Road, Movie' was screened at the 2009 Tokyo International Film Festival and also at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Festival last year. The film releases this Friday, the 5th of March.

A sneak peek into ‘Chance Pe Dance’

‘Chance Pe Dance’ is the forthcoming film from director Ken Ghosh being made under the banner of UTV Motion pictures. The film was earlier titled ‘Star’ and ‘Yahoo’ before getting its final title. It stars Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D’ Souza in the lead roles.

The movie is based on story of a young and talented Sameer who is struggling to get a break in the industry and in the due course he meets Tina who is a choreographer.

Sameer starts living in his old car when he is thrown out of his house as he is unable to pay the rent. He starts teaching dance in a school to young kids. Unfortunately, where he hates kids, these kids hate dancing.

However, slowly Sam not only emotionally bonds with the kids, but also helps them win a prestigious inter-school dance competition and gets their confidence back. Tina is always his support who also helps him enter the reality talent hunt, where he wins and finally becomes a superstar.

The future for films

A flurry of films is releasing now that the battle of the producers-multiplexes is over. We spoke to astro numerologist expert Bhavikk Sangghvi about the fate of films releasing in the second half of 2009, which are expected to wake up Bollywood out of its gloom.

The predictions for New Releases are as follows…

3 July: KAMBAKKHT ISHQ : Hit. Both Kareena & Akshay will benefit.

10 July: SHORTKUT : Average. Akshaye, Arshad will be appreciated but nothing great.

17 July: JASHNN : Good effort by the cast & crew but will go unnoticed.

24 July: LUCK : Average. Too many cooks ( actors ) spoil the broth.

31 July: LOVE AAJ KAL : Hit in metros. Average elsewhere. Will be appreciated in metros & multiplexes.

7 August: AGYAAT : Average. Initial response will be good but the euphoria will soon settle down. Downslide from Monday onwards.

14 August: KAMINEY and LIFE PARTNER : HITS. Both films will enjoy long weekend. Kaminey will be more appreciated. Life Partner may do better business commercially.

21 August to 11 September [Ramzan]: Any film can come in this period

18 September: WANTED and DIL BOLE HADIPPA : FLOPS. WANTED will not do well as expected. Salman will be liked though. Might work in some small centres. DIL BOLE HADIPPA will fizzle out.

25 September: WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? : AVERAGE. Over-hype will hamper the prospects of this film. May just about recover.

2 October: WAKE UP SID and DO KNOT DISTURB : WAKE UP SID will be welcomed by the youth. Ranbir's fan following will increase. Multiplex HIT. DO KNOT DISTURB will also do very well. HIT.

9 October [pre-Diwali week]: No major release yet

16 October [Diwali]: BLUE, ALADIN and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA : HIT. BLUE will do pretty well. The film will raise the bar of Hindi cinema. ALADIN will create a buzz but would be sidelined. FLOP. MAIN AUR MRS.KHANNA may attract initial footfalls but disappoint in the long run. AVERAGE.

23 October: No major release yet

30 October: LONDON DREAMS : HIT. Will generate huge collections but will not sustain curiosity. Asin will be liked the most.

6 November: AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI : HIT. Ranbir-Katrina jodi will be something to watch out for.

13 November: TUM MILE : Will do just about okay. Nothing more, nothing less !

20 November: No major release yet

27 November: DE DHAN DHANA DHAN : AVERAGE. Will start off well but business will get affected as days go by.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ T20 promotion bombs

Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone skipped IIFA Weekend in Macau recently as they had to promote their film “Love Aaj Kal” at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in England.

But the promotion flopped as defending champions India lost against England and went out of the cricket tournament in the Super 8 stage, something which not many had anticipated.

According to the plan, Saif and Deepika were supposed to cheer the Indian team and even appear in the commentary box for a few matches that India would play.

Incidentally, Saif and Deepika were present at the India vs England match, but after India lost, their tie-up with the tournament came to an abrupt end.

Instead they settled for a press conference in London and returned home after that.
