Priyanka Chopra creates History

Bollywood News : Everyone is talking about how Priyanka Chopra is playing twelve different characters in director Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘What’s Your Raashee?‘

However, what we have discovered is that by accomplishing this feat, Ms. Chopra has created history not just in Hindi films but in world cinema of any language, including Hollywood.
Priyanka Chopra has created cinematic history by being the first female actor in world cinema to play twelve different characters in a single film!

Never before has any female actor ever played so many characters in a single film, in cinema of any language. This is in fact a world record for any female actor and we applaud Priyanka for her efforts and the results, which the media caught a glimpse of recently at the music launch event which screened all the songs of the film. We must say that Priyanka Chopra has made each character unique just through her hair, make up, body language, style and dialogue delivery as she has not used prosthetic for any of the characters.

So while everyone has been chasing their Hollywood dream role, Priyanka Chopra has created history in Hollywood, through a Hindi film.

Toronto film fest to have strong Indian flavour - “Dil Bole Hadippa” , “What’s Your Rashee?”

whats your rashee 250x286 Toronto film fest to have strong Indian flavour

The forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), starting Sep 10, will have a strong Indian presence — while two mainstream Bollywood films “Dil Bole Hadippa” and “What’s Your Rashee?” will have their world premieres, Dilip Mehta’s “Cooking With Stella” has been selected for a screening in the prestigious Gala section.

Jon Amiel’s “Creation”, a bio-pic on Charles Darwin, is also being premiered in the same section where Dilip’s film is being screened and he says he is thrilled by the honour.

“The Toronto International Film Festival is, after Cannes, undoubtedly the most significant festival worldwide. To have one’s film participate in it is glory enough, but to have a gala screening and a world premiere is mind-blowing,” Dilip, brother of Canada-based Indian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, told IANS.

“For me, as first-time feature director this was such a tremendous high to have our film in the company of such an amazing film. ‘Creation’ nipped us all in the post but we were right up there. TIFF selected ‘Cooking With Stella’ for a gala screening for our world premiere on September 16th.

“The numbers are daunting. Approximately 3,000 plus films are submitted for the festival. Of these about 350 are selected of which 15 or so have the distinction of a gala screening at the amazing Roy Thomson Hall,” he added.

This was the very section where Deepa’s elegiac “Water” that had Lisa Ray, John Abraham and Seema Biswas in lead roles had been premiered. While “Water” focussed on the difficult lives of widows in the 1930s, Dilip’s film is in a different mood space.

“For 34 years, I have covered death, misfortune, war, plagues and other human tragedies for Time, Newsweek, National Geographic and other such major journals. I entered the world of cinema with ‘The Forgotten Woman’, a hard documentary to portray the reality of the widows of India.

“Similarly ‘Cooking With Stella’ also looks at a classic Indian tragedy, that of servants and employers but without wanting to give a lecture on morality.”

While filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Raashee?” stars Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja, “Dil Bole Hadippa” is Anurag Singh’s directorial debut. Produced by Yash Raj Films, it stars Rani Mukerji and Shahid Kapoor. Both the films are female-centric.

Apart from screenings, Indian actresses Seema Biswas and Shriya Saran will walk the red carpet.

Rani and Harman in Toronto

Forgotten actors Rani Mukherjee and Harman Baweja have a reason to celebrate; their forthcoming films will be screened at the prestigious Toronto festival.

Dil Bole Hadippa and What’s your Rashee will be screened at the festival along with other foreign films. Both Rani and Harman are banking on these films for their fate in Bollywood will be sealed after their release. Considering Rani has been out of the scene since a while now and Harman’s bad luck is making the most of him, the added attention the film’s get is only better.

What’s your Rashee stars Harman Baweja and his more successful ex-girlfriend Priyanka Chopra. While Piggy Chops has nothing to worry about, Harman’s last two films Love Story 2050 and Victory sank without a trace. The same could go for Rani, Laaga Chunari mein Daag and Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic were unbearable boxoffice duds and she’s going all the way for Dil Bole Hadippa. Right from havans and pooja’s, she’s doing the very best to ward off the evil from her filmi career.

Rani plays a woman impersonating a man in the Shahid starrer Dil Bole Hadippa and the film has been touted as a direct lift off Amanda Bynes’s She’s the Man. Whereas What’s your Rashee, is Ashutosh Gowarikar’s effort in making something less patriotic and periodic.

Whether or not the two films will make news at the festival, we don’t know but let’s just hope the Raashee of both these films fare better than the actor’s career’s themselves!

Ex-treme dance!

Ex-lovers, Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja burned up the dance floor at the wrap-up party thrown by Ashutosh Gowariker for What's Your Raashee?

A source reveals that PC and Harman walked in at separate times. Harman came early and Piggychops made an entry with her mom much later.

However, after a few drinks and exchanging pleasantries, the ex-lovers took to the dance floor.

An eyewitness says, "They didn't seem awkward with each other. It looked like they had come to terms with the break up.

Everyone cheered and clapped when they started dancing!" Now that's something you'll never see Kareena and Shahid doing.

Priyanka, Hurman cordial to each other

Former lovers seen at party for their film 'What's Your Rashee?'

After their much-publicised breakup last year, Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja met at a party recently but didn't display any hard feelings, said a source who saw the two dancing together.

The party was thrown by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker recently to celebrate the completion of a 100-day shooting schedule of his romantic comedy "What's Your Rashee?", in which Priyanka and Hurman are playing the lead roles.

"Hurman and Priyanka were together on the dance floor. Both of them greeted each other cordially. There was no awkwardness between them. In fact the duo, though at a distance, were enjoying dancing on the floor," the source told IANS.

Both actors, who made news with their breakup last year, danced along with Gowariker and his producer wife Sunita, and the foursome had a "good time together".

According to the source, Hurman and Priyanka walked in late for the party, but at different hours.

"Hurman came in late and immediately hit the dance floor, joining the other cast and crew members of the film. Priyanka came in with her mother just before midnight.

"But by the time Priyanka began dancing, Hurman was busy mingling with other guests. And later the crew members dragged him to the dance floor," the source added.

Though Priyanka, who is playing 12 different roles in "What's Your Rashee?", left the party at 3.30 a.m., her "Love Story 2050" co-star preferred to stay longer.

Incidentally, the party was held on the same day when Gowariker's magnum opus "Jodhaa Akbar" completed 100 days of celebrations.

Barring a song which is to be shot with Priyanka soon, the film, to be released Sep 25, has been shot completely.

"The party was a celebration of our magnificent journey. There's a song that will be shot later in June because we require the terrain to be sparkingly green. Otherwise, we are done with 'What's Your Rashee?'" said Sunita.

Priyanka Chopra gets discharged!

Priyanka Chopra, who had to be rushed to the hospital after she complained of severe stomach pain on early Saturday morning, being discharged from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Monday morning. A pale looking Priyanka left the hospital with her father Ashok Chopra.

Of late, Piggy Chop's health seems to be fragile as she had also fainted a couple of days earlier on the sets of her forthcoming film, What's Your Raashee? Priyanka constantly had visitors during her stay at the hospital including beau Shahid Kapur who spent some quality and quantity time with her on Saturday. Interestingly, Shahid's parents Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak Kapur too visited Priyanka, clearly sending signals that she is very much part of Shahid's family.

However, her once 'best friend' Hurman Baweja stayed away from visiting her, as he is said to be currently shooting.

Genelia hooked to Imran?

Everything is absolutely fine. These are just rumours.”

genelia-in-love-with-imran

Genelia D’Souza is close to Imran Khan. Genelia clarified, “Imran is a dear friend, there is no misunderstanding between us and we are very good friends. Everything is absolutely fine. These are just rumours.”

Since Imran is going steady with his girlfriend of many years Avantika, no one really linked up the young stars romantically.

However the recent buzz is that the two friends have fallen apart after a misunderstanding.

Genelia has Hook Ya Crook with John Abraham and It’s my Life with Hurman Baweja, the Hindi remake of her own Telugu hit Bommarillu to look forward to as well as a Abbas Mastan thriller.

Hurman-Priyanka: Off to Chicago

So the grapevine now insists that it’s officially ‘over’ between Hurman Baweja and his gorgeous galpal Priyanka Chopra,eh?

Well... maybe... if we’re to read between the lines of the quotes given out by these two guarded (ex) lovebirds. But we’ve not given up on this jodi yet, dahlings. Not if the next schedule of their movie(s) is anything to go by. The duo are off to Chicago for a month, to film with Ashutosh Gowariker for his next, What’s Your Rashee?. And knowing the bitter winter of Chicago, with its minus temperatures and freezing wind-chills, this time of the year; Hurman and PC may just look to each other for some familiar warmth.

Like Hurman told ZOOM in a very exclusive chat, “Actually, the media has me confused whether I’ve broken up with Priyanka or not. Sometimes they break us up, sometimes they patch us up, and then there are times when they even get us engaged. The real scene is that we are very good friends and will always remain so. In fact, I’m looking forward to this entire Chicago schedule with her.” Well, well, guys, we’ll merely read between the lines. And as for the ‘warmth’, that’s what friends are for, na? And frankly, not many get ‘hotter’ than our Priyanka, haan?
