Southern bombshell Asin has told her family she does not intend to move to Mumbai despite the success of Ghajini.
“We are not planning to shift to Mumbai for now," said a source close to the actress. But we had reported earlier of news that Asin had bought a flat in Mumbai, so what was that about?
"It is true that we have our own new flat in Bandra now, but that is actually for whenever she will come down to Mumbai," the source said. "She doesn’t like to be dependent on anybody and so she's bought her own flat here. But she won't stay here. She loves to stay with family and her family mother who are there in Chennai.”
"She'll stay here for shooting any of her assignments or for signing of films," the source added, "it made more sense than staying in a hotel all the time."But didn't that mean that she was actively looking for work in Bollywood?
"Of course she is, but moving completely to Mumbai will not happen because it would make it difficult for her to take up projects in the south," the source said.
Currently Asin is shooting for London Dreams, one of the biggest movies this year. It stars Salman Khan and is being directed by Vipul Shah, the man with the golden touch who resurrected the career of Akshay Kumar and whose films have transformed Akshay into the top tier of heroes. After that she has a major assignment in the south with Kamaal Hasan,
whose shooting is in Chennai.
But a Bollywood insider said that there was no way for Asin to not move to Mumbai once her career had been established. "If London Dreams is also a hit, the producers will fall at her feet," said a source, "and she will have no option but to move because, after all, Bollywood packages are four times what she gets paid in the south, if not more."
