News: Bollywood’s joint family secret

It is hard to find joint families with the recent trend in nuclear families becoming more appealing. However, Bollywood seems to prefer the traditional extended family all under one roof. ‘A family that stays together eats together and prays together’. Here’s a lowdown of the top five families in Bollywood that have that special bond which keeps the family strongly together.

Kapoors believe in continuing the legacy that the older generations have left. Ranbir is the fourth generation of the Kapoor khandaan and still continues to stay with his parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor in their ancestral house, Krishna Kunj in Pali Hill. The tradition of celebrating Ganeshotsav started by Raj Kapoor at R.K.Studios continues till date. Last year, the Ganesh Visarjan saw Ranbir playing the dholak for the visarjan.

Ranbir is surely following his grandfathers words that, “The show must go on”

The Roshans are a closely-knit family that believes in staying together. The one festival that the whole family likes to celebrate together is Ganeshotsav. It is celebrated in the Roshan house and Hrithik makes it a point to go for the visarjan at Juhu Chowpatty irrespective of the fear of getting mobbed by the general public.

'We are the Roshans and will always be that!'

This is one spiritual family in Bollywood and they do not need any introduction. Yes, they are the Bachchans. “The Bachchan family sits together for their prayers. They make it a point to seek the blessings of the almighty before they venture into anything of great importance,” informs a source close to the family.

'United we do all things that’s what we all are about'

The Mukherjees live the traditional Bengali lifestyle and the women in the family are always seen draped in a saree. On the occasion of Durgapuja, the entire Mukherjee family visit the nearest Podar Hall in Santacruz and seek the blessings of the Maa Durga.

‘Aamar Sansar, the best’ is what Krishna Mukherjee seems to be saying

There is yet another Kapoor family that stays, prays and eats together. Well known as the jumping jack, Jeetendra says jokingly, “We are together for 24 hours of the day.” He goes on to add “Since Tushaar and Ekta have their own responsibilities, it becomes difficult to manage time as a family. However, every month, we make it a point to perform the purnima puja together at home”.

It’s truly a Kahaani Kapoor Parivaar Kii
