Neeraj Pandey’s superhit and critically acclaimed film A Wednesday is now all set to have a prequel.
A source reported, ” Neeraj is now planning to make a prequel to the film. It’s an idea many would consider interesting particularly because prequels aren’t a popular phenomenon in the Hindi film industry.
Another source said, “Usually, one would’ve thought that Neeraj would plan to take ahead the story of A Wednesday as it had ended on an open note. Instead, Neeraj wants to take the audience back to the origins of the characters we came across in A Wednesday. That to him is far more exciting than making a sequel.”
“Incidentally, the script for the prequel is nearly ready. The only reason why an official announcement of the prequel has been put on hold is the legal wrangle A Wednesday is in after UTV, the producers of the original film, sold the Tamil rights to Kamal Haasan without the director’s (Neeraj) consent. The extent of UTV’s copyright jurisdiction over the rights and material of A Wednesday is now being determined,” the source added.
Neeraj didn’t deny planning a prequel, “Until things are completely sorted out with UTV, I’m in no position to speak on record.”
